unwind / unfurl

a soft business & creative life group mentoring cocoon: dec ‘25 - feb ‘26 ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗

Commences Dec. 9th

A cosy, online group mentoring container for women. Over five live sessions, we’ll explore self-employment, creative expression and living a life that above all else feels like YOU (and feeds your soul while supporting you in the material world).

While there will be a focus on building and running a business for women who do not connect with planning, niching, structure, content schedules, why statements, monthly income goals and all the things we’re told we need to be successful in this world, you don’t need to have a business to join - just a quiet knowing (or wishing) that life could be different - that what you dream of isn’t too much to ask. Maybe you want to write a book, move country or build a home of your own deep in nature. It is all connected, it all has the same energy as building a business that works for you: feeding your life instead of draining your spirit.

Together, we will explore:

The importance of deeply understanding what it is you truly love and desire and how you wish to live day to day

How to keep going when it gets hard (true consistency over time) while letting go of needing to know exactly where it is you are going

How to rest in the not-knowing & take (the right) risks with small, gentle steps

How to loosen the grip on control & get comfortable being misunderstood

How let go of feeling selfish, wrong, or too much for prioritising how you want to live, work and create in this one wild and precious life!

What success actually feels like for you & how to continually make your way there (home) by following yourself and what you love rather the loud, homogenised advice of the rest of the world

Each live session is a blend of workshop and group mentoring. Before we begin, you will receive a set of reflection questions & a survey so I can take a temperature check of the group and plan our workshops accordingly.

THE DETAILS

The content of unwind / unfurl will be specifically tailored to the people who join. We’ll uncover how rest, joy, your desires, beauty and your childhood (and current) dreams are not frivolous, but to be taken extremely seriously, both in your business and in your life. Please trust I am able to serve you much better without fixing in place the exact program in advance.

Live sessions are approx. 1.5-2hrs long, recorded and uploaded to the online portal within 24hrs. There will be a group chat for sharing & connection with other participants (the best part) !!

You do not need to attend live. Sharing is highly encouraged, but optional and so much can be gained simply from absorbing the recordings in your own time. There will be opportunities in each session to ask questions and bring your real life experiences to the group for feedback, exploration and discussion.

Please note: spaces are strictly limited. Please choose wisely as we are unable to offer refunds. If you live and work in Japan, you are eligable for the tdr member discount, please enquire by email.

A STORYTIME

I’ve been self employed for most of my adult life. As a forever over-achiever, when I first started working for myself I did all the ‘right’ things (like all of them, trust me) and when it felt wrong, I blamed myself (as usual) for not being enough. It wasn’t until I started sending long emails (way before substack made it cool) about my travels to Japan, my favourite natural beauty products, wish list clothing items and posting poetry all over instagram that things finally, slowly began to fall into place.

(This is not a story about social media. It’s a story about following what you love).

Despite having evidence the more I showed up as the whole of myself the more right my life felt, I always held onto a small thread of guilt that I was doing it wrong because I have no plan, no desire to scale, no niche, no monthly or quarterly goals. My why and my mission are nothing more than, I want to love the life I have and the work I get to do in the world.

In 2024, I was granted a business start up visa in Tokyo, after a lifetime of being inspired by Japanese culture and visiting the country 15 times in 15 years. It was an out of body experience, watching Tokyo Government officials flick through my application: the restorative yoga workshop posters, pastel instagram poetry, my online membership and my plan to combine yoga, creativity, rest and cultural practices with retreats in the Japanese countryside.

Not only was my start up application accepted, it was self-funded by the work I have done so far and most impressive of all — the very serious government officials loved it.

When I picked up my visa with the words Business Manager stamped on it at the Japanese Embassy, I cried. It was almost impossible for me to believe the work I created had brought me here. It was a dream so specific to me, so beyond my wildest dreams, my logical, rational brain could never have foreseen it.

The whole reason why I was standing there with this visa in my hands was because almost a year earlier, I had everything I thought I wanted and I realised I wanted none of it at all. I was not unhappy, but there was a stagnancy, a heaviness that just wouldn’t shift, no matter how well I ate, slept and looked after myself.

And so after careful consideration, heartbreak and tears, I left my apartment in Sydney, as well as a long term relationship that was perfect on paper but otherwise not, and I booked a one-way ticket to my safe place, Japan.

A few weeks into that trip, I treated myself to a few nights in a cute hotel in Kyoto and happened to be invited to an event one of my favourite brands was hosting just down the road. It was at that natural beauty pop up I was told about this visa, and encouraged to give it a try. My dream was realised not through a better plan or harder work, but by treating myself and being fiercely committed to creating a life I love.

This is just one example of many, and I’m sure you have some too. For a feeling of deep satisfaction and abundance in our lives and our business, for a resourced body that can be generous to the people and the communities we adored, following our hearts, our desires, those golden threads we’ve always loved are serious and in my opinion, way more powerful than anything I’ve ever learned from a marketing or business guru.
